Help
There are two "modes" in this game: the first portion is a point-and-click Adventure Mode, and the second an RPG timer-based Battle Mode.
In the adventure mode, operation is very simple. Doors and some items in each room/scene will be interactive - clicking them will either add an item to your inventory or take you to another scene. In the battle mode, things get a little more complicated. You take control of both Alley and Doz, each with a separate set of status bars and portrait. The inside rim of the portraits will light up as the character's counter plays, up until it is their turn to perform an action. The status bars indicate how much health, energy, and focus that the assigned character has. Alley's and Doz's energy types are called Fury and Hyperactivity, both having independent regeneration rates. As their energy increases, attacks with greater energy costs become available through the attack menu. Focus defines the probability that a character will get confused and fail when trying to perform an action. A loss of focus will increase the chance to miss, and will not decrease further than 50%. Alley's attacks: - Slap: Deals little damage, and returning 25% of the damage dealt in Fury. - Punch (10 Fury): Deals ~200 damage. - Fistly Barrage (20 Fury): Deals ~375 damage and causes focus loss. - Slaughter (100 Fury): Deals ~1150 damage. Doz's attacks: - Unfriendly Claws: Damage is based on available Hyperactivity. - Pounce (15 Hype): Deals ~130 damage and causes focus loss. Doz's "Snook" ability completely drains his Hyperactivity and converts it into health for both Alley and Doz. This could be considered a sort of emergency party heal. Items: - Parhelia Voodoo Doll: Returns a full Fury bar to Alley. - Ribbon: Returns a full Hyperactivity bar to Doz. - Snack: Heals both Alley and Doz for 20% of their maximum health. - Couscous: Causes full focus loss on an enemy. About
This project was a gift for my girlfriend, which was unfortunately two days late (and I didn't even finish this public export until almost a week after that). It took a solid two weeks to design and complete. All art, audio, and code* is original. RPG functionality inspired by Anachronox!
